Susana Restrepo ~ Susi

My creative journey

After graduating in Industrial Design in 2017, my journey took me from co-founding a startup aimed at supporting disabled athletes to freelancing and engaging in dynamic crowd-storming projects. Living abroad sharpened my perspective on technology's omnipresence and the disconnection between physical and digital product realms. My curiosity for consumer electronics and wearables drove me to dive into UX/UI through Designlab's courses in 2022. I'm now on a mission to harness my background, bridging the divide with a focus on accessible, human-centric, and seamless digital experiences.

Work experience

SUMA

From 2023
Co-Founder and designer at SUMA Design Studio in Shanghai.

Freelance designer

Since 2017
For over five years, I’ve collaborated with clients in Colombia and China, offering design solutions in areas ranging from food trucks and thermal scopes to industrial tools, toys, and health monitoring devices, all utilizing 3D rendering and 3D modeling software.

Freelance designer

Since 2018
After participating in over 15 projects with iNRV8 I've had the opportunity to work with renowned brands as clients and work on several project types, as well as actively work based on client and PM's feedback.

Jovoto

From 2017 to 2022
I was part of over 40 projects.
At Jovoto, I've worked with renowned brands as clients, which gives me a window to peek at their interests and desires, keeping me updated. Each project varies depending on the company's specific needs. I've had to deliver numerous spark ideas, commercial concepts, packaging designs, product presentation designs, or fully developed design concepts.

Armara

From 2017 to 2018
This experience taught me how to start a business from an idea, to think with my feet on the ground and aspects like constraints, feasibility, and business, in mind while staying open to unexpected insights. I learned the resilience of structuring a start-up, the difficulties of working on projects with a budget, designing for real people, and receiving real feedback on the products we were putting out.

Why Work Together?

Besides being a generalist able to work on a wide range of product types, I am also a nurturer, optimist, and adaptable person, which allows me to work comfortably in a team. However, most of my experience has been working on projects individually, giving me tools to self-manage and be a hands-on designer.

Looking forward to meeting you and potentially working together too!

UX/UI Studies

DesignLab UI/UX Foundations

February to March 2022 ( 1 month )
During Foundations, I practiced the theory and essentials of graphic design, this time applied to digital format. I used these lessons to design two app designs, one responsive website, and other multiple-reproduction projects where I had to copy existing designs.

DesignLab UX Academy

Mar 2022 to Jan 2023 ( 9 months )
Academy taught was a complete immersion in UX. First, I had to design Zeit, a responsive website, under a given brief and with a well-structured step-by-step of how to complete this project. Then, to test my time-managing/project-managing skills, I worked on three projects under the briefs I designed for each, and the steps I considered were needed for each project individually.
